Sliding/Bi-Parting

Sliding/Bi-Parting automatic doors are at present the most common type of electronically controlled door found. They are available in either single sliding, bi-parting or telescopic configurations.

All sliding doors are fitted to a top track which alleviates the requirement for any floor tracks. All Sliding operators are supplied with a fully monitored battery back up system which will ensure the doors open in the event of power failure or fire alarm activation. Sliding doors can also be supplied with a break-out facility which allows users to push the doors open in an emergency. Its requirement is normally determined by Local Authority Building Control.

Bi-Folding
Bi-folding automatic doors are ideal where space within an opening is limited. Normally where existing doors are situated they can be replaced with a Bi-folding door with little disruption to existing openings. They can be either installed within an opening or face fixed to the existing door surround.

Similar to Sliding doors Bi-folding doors have a battery back up system which will lead to the doors opening in the event of power failure or fire alarm activation. Bi-folding doorscan be supplied with a Full Break-out facility if required.
Low energy swing

With the implementation of DDA low energy automatic swing doors are the most widely chosen option for door automation. They are the ideal operator for either using with new doors or automating existing. Unlike the fully automatic door this operator is operated by using push pads and in the main is, by able bodied people, used as a normal manual door.

The push pads have disabled symbols and are installed at a height suitable for wheelchair users. Where there is no suitable wall fixing, push pads can be mounted on free standing posts fitted in a suitable area where they are not hazardous to walking traffic.

This option is the most cost effective way of having doors comply with the DDA. Where existing doors are fitted with swing operators a suitable finger guard should be fitted to the hinged stile as recommended in BS7036.

Fully automatic swing
Fully automatic swing doors are normally activated by passive infra-red (PIR) sensors fitted above the door or mounted from the ceiling. Automatic swing doors are ideal where there is no passing or waiting traffic around the sensors activating zone which would cause the doors to open unnecessarily, for this reason corridors are particularly suited to swing automatic doors.

All fully automatic swing doors are fitted with top rail safety which will stop the doors action if an object comes into its range. Where people can approach swing doors from their side, safety barriers should be installed.

In most scenarios existing doors can be automated, they are also officially approved for use on Fire doors. In the event of power failure the doors revert to normal manual doors.
